Facebook launched "Live" in April of 2016 to all Facebook users. It's a great way to increase brand awareness as you inform, engage with your audience, and build brand awareness.
Here are some ideas and tips that have helped me to step further outside my comfort zone to be more visible and engaging with my audience.
My Facebook Live Tips:
Make A Commitment To Hosting Your Facebook Lives
Commit to doing them! If you mentally commit to doing the live videos, you are more than likely going to follow through. Don't let perfectionism or excuses stop you.
Select a good time that is good for you
Let's face it; we are all busy. I've found if set a time of day that works better for my schedule I'm more likely to get them done. If I miss that time, I remind myself of #1 tip and make sure I get it done before the end of the day.
Yep, hosting a Facebook Live is about being real and in the moment. Shocking right? It's not about being the perfect host or memorizing your script. It's not about finding the ideal scene to broadcast. It's about being real and in the moment.
Be real, people will relate to you better.
I've done one when I was dog tired after traveling all day with very little energy or makeup. 🙂
Invite A Friend Or Colleague To Join You
I love being part of a community and find it easier to be on Facebook Live with someone else. When I started, I used to invite my friends and colleagues to be on with me. There are a few tools that will help you, such as Belive.tv. However, you can start the broadcast then ask your co-host to join you AFTER they are on the live show.
Here's a caveat, I noticed I was cohosting more and found myself using it as a crutch not to host my own Facebook lives. That's one of the reasons I'm challenging myself to organize more of my own solo lives.
It's Not About Being Perfect
Remember, your human and perfectly imperfect the way you are. When I started doing videos a few years ago, I deleted 20 videos before I was brave enough to share one. And that was after I cried from frustration and self-doubt.
So, if you are starting and you start your Facebook Live on your personal account, you can choose who sees it. Pretty great right? If you hate how your Facebook live is going, you can delete it and start over. I have had to start over. Just remember it's not about being or looking perfect. The right people will relate to you.
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”
